ABOUT

Tara is fascinated by the power of language to share the places and stories that move us most. Her love of wide expanses began as a child in the cornfields of eastern Iowa and continues to guide all her pursuits. She received an MFA in nonfiction writing from Antioch University Los Angeles and spent 15 years working in Greenland, Antarctica, and Canada for the US Polar Programs and Polar Bears International.

Her prose and poetry have been published with Alpinist, Patagonia, The Maine Review, Whitefish Review, and Waymaking: An Anthology of Women’s Adventure Writing, Poetry and Art. She works as an editor in international development for USAID-funded projects and spends most other time paddling, climbing, and fishing in quiet places around the world. Tara is based in Livingston, Montana, with her longtime love Nick.
